Eighteen years in corporate leadership, two children, and a thriving storytelling platform, Abhrekha Jain Sahlot is the definition of quiet strength. A software professional turned blogger and speaker, she writes not to impress but to reflect, comfort, and heal.
In this inspiring conversation with HerInfluence, Abhrekha opens up about work, womanhood, writing, and the courage it takes to embrace imperfection.

Q1: How has your 18-year corporate journey shaped you as a person and as a storyteller?
Abhrekha: My 18-year journey has taught me resilience, patience, and empathy. Working with diverse teams helped me observe human behaviour closely, and that naturally finds its way into my stories. Over time, I learned to choose consistency over perfection โ in my work and in my writing.
Q2: Was there a moment when you realised storytelling was more than a hobby โ it was your passion?
Abhrekha: Yes. It happened when I shared my experience of motherhood and people wrote back saying it comforted them. Thatโs when I realised storytelling wasnโt just something I enjoyed โ it could genuinely touch lives.
Q3: You balance motherhood, a demanding corporate role, and writing. How do you make it work?
Abhrekha: Iโve learned to flow with life instead of fighting it. I write in paused moments โ after office hours, once the kids sleep, even on weekends. Creativity gives me energy, so it doesnโt feel like additional work. Consistency, not perfection, is what keeps me moving.
Q4: What inspired you to speak about womenโs empowerment and positive parenting?
Abhrekha: My own life. Raising two boys while managing a demanding career made me realise how many women go through similar struggles silently. Sharing my learnings felt like a way to support someone who might otherwise feel unseen.
Q5: Youโve been featured in platforms like Storizen, Mommyโs Magazine, and even Red FM. How did those moments feel?
Abhrekha: Humbling and energising. Sitting in the Red FM studio and hearing my story go live was surreal โ a reminder that small, consistent efforts eventually create meaningful impact.

Q6: How do you find time for work, family, and creativity without burning out?
Abhrekha: I plan my days intentionally and try to be fully present wherever I am. I use small pockets of time to write and I donโt shy away from working on weekends if inspiration strikes. Choosing consistency over perfection is my strength โ it keeps me grounded.
Q7: What challenges have you faced as a woman in corporate spaces?
Abhrekha: Balancing ambition with motherhood hasnโt always been easy. There were moments of guilt, exhaustion, and self-doubt. But every challenge strengthened my resolve โ not only to grow, but to encourage other women to believe in themselves too.
Q8: How do you ensure your stories stay honest and relatable?
Abhrekha: I write from real experiences โ mine and the people I meet. I share the highs, the fears, and the messy middle because relatability comes from truth, not from curated perfection.
Q9: What advice would you give to working mothers who feel overwhelmed?
Abhrekha: Donโt chase perfection โ choose consistency and kindness toward yourself. Share responsibilities, breathe through tough days, and remember: your children learn courage by watching you try, not by watching you do it all flawlessly.
Q10: Whatโs next โ more writing, more talks, or something new?
Abhrekha: A little of everything โ more writing, more talks, and more meaningful collaborations. Iโm exploring new formats that blend empowerment, parenting, and storytelling in ways that can reach and inspire more people.
