In Conversation with Bhavya Reddy
At HerInfluence.in, we celebrate women who are not just seen—but deeply understood. In this feature, we speak with Bhavya Reddy—an actor, model, and mental health advocate who brings together creativity and courage in a world driven by perception.
From growing up surrounded by cinema to using her voice for mental health awareness, Bhavya’s journey is one of authenticity, resilience, and purpose.
HerInfluence: You wear multiple identities—actor, model, and mental health advocate. Which of these feels most personal to you?
Bhavya Reddy:
Honestly, mental health advocacy feels the most personal to me because it comes from real experiences. Acting and modeling are how I express myself creatively, but speaking about mental health is who I am at my core.
All three are connected—the more I understand myself, the better I perform, and the more authentic I show up in every space.
HerInfluence: Take us back to the beginning—what first drew you towards acting and modeling?
Bhavya Reddy:
I grew up in a very cinematic environment—we own a theatre, so films were always a huge part of my life. As a child, I wouldn’t even have lunch without watching a movie.
I was especially inspired by actors like Prabhas and the heroines I saw on screen. Initially, it was their beauty and presence that attracted me, but as I grew older, I realized it was about storytelling—how these women brought characters to life and influenced emotions so deeply.
Being in front of the camera has always felt natural to me. It makes me feel alive.

HerInfluence: The glamour of the industry often hides its reality. What has your journey taught you?
Bhavya Reddy:
What you see isn’t always the full picture. Behind the glamour, there’s hard work, rejection, and self-doubt.
It’s not easy, but it builds resilience. It also made me appreciate the real, unfiltered parts of life much more.
HerInfluence: Mental health is still a sensitive topic. What inspired you to speak about it so openly?
Bhavya Reddy:
Mental health has always been deeply important to me. We focus so much on physical health, but very few people actually sit with themselves and understand what’s happening internally.
For me, it’s also very personal. I lost my dad due to a mental health issue, and that changed everything. It made me realize how serious and impactful this is—not just for one person, but for entire families.
If sharing my story helps even one person feel less alone, that means everything to me.

HerInfluence: Was there a moment that changed your perspective on mental well-being?
Bhavya Reddy:
Yes, a couple of moments. One was when Deepika Padukone opened up about her mental health. She always seemed perfect on screen, and it made me realize you never truly know what someone is going through.
The other was my personal experience with my dad. That’s when I understood—if your mind isn’t at peace, nothing else truly matters.
Your mind is your first home.
HerInfluence: How do you balance your personal life with your public persona?
Bhavya Reddy:
I remind myself that not everything needs to be shared. Keeping certain parts of my life private helps me stay grounded.
At the same time, I try to be as real as possible in what I do choose to share.

HerInfluence: In an industry driven by perception, how do you stay authentic?
Bhavya Reddy:
I constantly check in with myself—what feels right and what doesn’t. I don’t want to build something that doesn’t feel like me.
Authenticity is what truly makes you stand out in the long run.
HerInfluence: What does confidence mean to you today?
Bhavya Reddy:
Earlier, confidence was about appearance and how people perceived me. Now, it’s about being comfortable with who I am—even on days when I’m not at my best.
It’s become more internal than external.
HerInfluence: If you could change one perception about women in this industry, what would it be?
Bhavya Reddy:
I wish people would look beyond appearances. Women in this space are often reduced to how they look, but there’s so much more—their talent, hard work, and individuality.
Who we are off-camera matters more than what you see on screen. That’s the real essence of a person.

HerInfluence: What message would you like to share with young women?
Bhavya Reddy:
You don’t have to have everything figured out. It’s okay to grow at your own pace, make mistakes, and evolve.
Just stay true to yourself and don’t lose your voice trying to fit into someone else’s idea of who you should be.
